Paul Bradley Career Bio – May 2016

 

Paul began his career in Human Resources working as a Recruitment Consultant specialising in recruiting and placing personnel with public sector contracts and private sector service providers primarily within the manned guarding, skilled construction and cleaning service industries. This role included a nine month secondment to the Netherlands for a specialist project leading up to the FIFA Euro 2000 Championships. The four years spent working in this field gave Paul an ideal foundation to transfer his skills to the manned guarding industry when he joined First Security (Guards) Limited in 2000.

 

Working initially within the in-house recruitment and screening department of First Security Paul spent over four years supporting two area divisions with recruitment for numerous high profile clients including the Barclays Capital and HSBC flagship offices in Canary Wharf, The South Bank Centre in Southwark and various contracts requiring bespoke staffing requirements including Sotheby’s, the London Trocadero and the British Library.

 

In addition to this recruitment and HR role Paul regularly managed the Transfer of Undertakings and Protection of Employment (TUPE) process and legislation required when acquiring new business. Paul completed this role during an extremely productive period for the company which saw its turnover increase from £18m to £55m. Paul managed the smooth transfer from smaller contracts through to larger transfers such as the Prudential contract which affected over 90 transferring staff across various site based locations many with differing and extremely complex benefits and contracts of employment which required assessment and negotiations.

 

Paul left the security industry in 2004 to study for his CIPD and to take up a position with Hays Montrose to develop a staff retention and welfare programme for temporary agency staff. This plan and the TUPE experience gained at First Security formed part of the dissertation that Paul submitted when gaining his CIPD qualification in 2006.

 

Paul was appointed as Alpha Plus security Limited’s Human Resources Manager in early 2006 and was immediately tasked with implementing the new statutory legislation from the SIA to APSL’s new and existing staff. Following this successful project Paul implemented new policies and processes for the HR Department as the company sought to achieve ACS status with the SIA. Following the achievement of this accreditation Paul developed the recruitment and screening departments of this growing company and was a key figure in gaining additional industry accreditations as the company gained and developed contracts with the WPP advertising group, King Struge LLP and various other high profile clients. In recognition for his efforts Paul was made HR Director in 2008 and continued to improve and develop the HR function of the company; implementing various performance management and training programmes and managing day to day employment legislation matters while keeping the collective smile on the face of the company’s workforce by introducing various staff incentive benefits.

 

In 2010 APSL merged with Bowles Security Services Limited creating a new and exciting company; The Security Group Limited. Paul successfully merged the HR processes and contracts of employment for these two diverse workforces in preparation for the company launch in late 2011. Paul spearheaded the group's commitment to the new Apprenticeship Scheme and is working closely with some of London largest Colleges, specialist training providers and the Mayor of London to introduce TSG’s industry flagship “Foundation Officer Scheme” in early 2012 in London in what is expected to be a landmark year for the Capital and everyone involved with The Security Group Limited.

 

In early 2012 Paul developed and implemented a successful HR outsource service as part of The Security Group National Limited’s professional services arm. This service is primarily aimed at the professional services industry and specialises in employment legislation, performance management and TUPE.

 

2015 was a special year. Celebrating 20 years working in recruitment and HR for various private sector service companies in the City of London where Paul championed recruitment, training and apprenticeship initiatives which have directly benefitted many newcomers from the London boroughs to industries such as corporate security and professional receptionist services.

 

Over the years Paul attended numerous programmes to attract new applicants at locations ranging from job centres and charity job clubs through to the ExCel Centre and City Hall where Paul has met Boris Johnson and various MPs, City of London Police charity heads and some of London’s most influential business leaders.

 

To mark these achievements and hard work on the 20th October Paul was awarded the Freedom of the City of London following an order from the Court of Common Council at the Guildhall, London.

 

In Early 2016 Paul left TSG and set up his own HR consultancy, PBHRC Limited. Drawing on over twenty years’ HR experience at management and director level Paul advises clients on recruitment, TUPE, mediation, employee development, performance management, employment law and HR strategy.
